Attending Arnett School, Tillie graduated as valedictorian of her class in 1949. Bettye was born January 21, 1926 in Wellington to Jesse Grover and Willie Preston White Hunt. Dan was born October 18, 1928 near Wellington to John B. He grew up on the family farm in the Rolla community outside of Wellington before graduating from high school in 1946.

After her husbands retirement they moved to Mansfield to be near her brothers.
